Interview Process for Ivory University House Applicants

The purpose of these interviews is to get to know the future residents and help them understand the mission of Ivory University House, answer any questions they have, and review the Core Value Agreement.

Format
Zoom interview. Approximately fifteen minutes.

Interview flow

  1. Get to know the resident
    Ask about hobbies, academic program, and housing priorities. Then confirm:
    a. Hometown
    b. High school attended
    c. University currently attending
    d. Year in school
    e. UNID
    f. Ivory Scholarship recipient status
    g. Community service or engagement
    h. Engineering student status

  2. How they found IUH
    Ask how they learned about Ivory University House and why they chose to apply.

  3. Mission overview
    Explain the details of Ivory University House and its philanthropic mission.

  4. Core Value Agreement
    Introduce the agreement with language such as:
    “At IUH, the Core Value Agreement is very important. It helps create the culture and environment we want for all residents.”
    Read through the Core Value Agreement and confirm understanding.

  5. Next steps
    If IUH is a good fit for them, explain that a lease will be sent shortly. Once the lease is signed and the security deposit is paid, their spot is secured.
